Stone Cold talks about Taker’s Streak
Jim Ross debuted The Ross Report with Steve Austin as his first guest tonight. Here are some highlights from the interview:
* Austin said no one reached out to him at RAW in Los Angeles about appearing at WrestleMania XXX.
* Austin said The Undertaker’s Streak will never end and shouldn’t end. Both Austin and JR agreed that Taker’s retirement match should be in his home state against John Cena .
* Austin talked about his own retirement and said the reason he didn’t announce it at WrestleMania 19 was because it would not have been good for business at the time. He mentioned that he didn’t want to retire but was forced into it. Vince McMahon also told him it would kill WWE’s IPO if Austin were to announce the retirement.

I have not listened to it yet. So I don’t know where they start talking about Taker. I agree with Austin not announcing his retirement. But I think he should be at Wrestlemania 30 in some form. He main evented that event more than once and deserves to be part of the 30th anniversary. As for Taker’s last match, I know Vince will have the final say. But according to JR, top guys have some control over their careers. To what extent, I don’t know. If it were up to me, I’d leave Taker’s last opponent and venue entirely up to him. This will spur a ton of debate because everyone will have their own opinion as to who should be Taker’s last opponent. I’m betting the company has already planned or at least discussed Cena as the last guy to challenge The Streak and it’s pretty obvious why.
On a sad note, I’d like to take this time to send my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Nelson Frazier (Mabel/King Mabel, Viscera/Big Vis, Big Daddy V) who passed away at age 43 following a massive heart attack. This really hits me hard. I remember him most for his Men On A Mission days. He had many matches with with Taker over they years. This is what he had to say about The Deadman:

PS: Who are some of the guys that you really enjoyed working with throughout your career? Anybody that stands out as maybe an influence or even just someone you enjoyed wrestling with?
BDV: The person I have the most history with would have to be the Undertaker. I was the first one to ever pin him on a pay-per-view back in 1995 at King of the Ring. I’m very proud of that. We have a very deep history.
PS: One thing I always found interesting about the Undertaker is that he seems to work really, really well with big guys, regardless of the skill level. Do you agree with that as somebody who’s been in the ring with him many times?
BDV: It’s true. He’s a giant, but he works almost like a small guy. He’s good. He’s one of the best there’s ever been. I’ve got a lot of respect for ‘Taker.

MTV has a video at this link going behind the scenes of the WWE Performance Center. The story contains quotes from Adrian Neville , Sami Zayn , Emma, William Regal and Triple H , who said that charisma is the most important quality in a Superstar. It’s a pretty cool look at the facility.
- The MTV article also has individual interviews with Kane, Paige and Zayn. During his interview, Kane talked about debuting his character in a match that involved Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker, and said that he was just trying to do the best he could. He also put over Undertaker, saying that without him, there would be no Kane. He also talked about ‘Taker staying with WWE during at a “time when it was struggling,” and said that if he were to build his company around one wrestler, it would be ‘Taker.

If I were Kane, I’d definitely build my company around Taker too because he’s just as valuable outside the ring as he is inside the ring so even when Taker retires, his value will not diminish.
